It’s Always Been My Fav
Growing up, one of my favorite things was going out to eat. I’ve always been excited about food, but eating at a restaurant wasn’t something we got to do often, so the food was just extra special. And incase you think I am talking extra fancy places I’m not. Specifically I can vividly remember deciding exactly what I would get with my three $1 menu choices at Wendy’s. The decision was always carefully considered… what would get me the most bang for my buck?! Incase you’re wondering, I still love their junior bacon cheeseburger and fries with honey mustard.
Anyways, it’s still a favorite of mine. Now I think the reasons are different:
- I can order exactly what I want… no family to consider. Only one person has to like it- not all 5 of us!
- I can order foods I normally wouldn’t make at home… such as a Chile Rellenos!
- Enjoyment without the work… no prep, no clean up.
- Usually enjoying the company of others – almost always a social event!
The reasons above were still present when I wasn’t fasting. Even when dieting I still loved going out to eat. However, it was usually less joyful than it is now! Since becoming a faster, it should be no surprise that I love going out to eat even more than before!
Why is that? Well I still get all the benefits mentioned above. However, on top of those, I get the peace of mind that comes with focusing on When I Eat not What I Eat. This allows me the freedom to order exactly what sounds good. Not what I feel like I “should order” …. also not ordering the “worst thing on the menu” because I am on a cheat meal. Instead, with diet mentality out of the picture, I simple order what will be satisfying at that time.
Dates!!
Going out to eat = Good
Going out to eat as an Intermittent Faster = Better
Going out to eat as an Intermittent Faster as part of a Date = BEST!
OMAD and Dates are a perfect match to me. I have a single meal I thoroughly enjoy while with my hubby; I enjoy all parts of it. Alone time, good food, a relief of real world responsibilities. It doesn’t get much better!
Recently, on MLK Day, my hubby had the day off of work and the kids were at school. Since we’re not Fools, Matt and I took the opportunity to have a date. We enjoyed Mexican Food – which yes – included a Chile Relleno for me 🙂

I challenge you to allow yourself the freedom to go out to eat and simply order based on what sounds best! THIS IS NOT AN ENCOURAGEMENT TO GO NUTS LOL But don’t let diet mentality take over… if a salad sounds amazing go for it! But don’t be afraid to enjoy your eating window!! Having eating windows you love will make it easier to fast; it’ll be a meal you’re excited to fast for!

I love eating and eating out if especially fun with others. So much good food to eat and enjoy. I love with fasting that one can adapt your eating window to whenever I want. Much as I love eating I am also enjoying my fasting windows. Crazy, but makes life simple.
