Some Lunches are Window Worthy Early!
This week I hit my 18 hour goal 6/7 days. Why? Because I had a schedule conflict. My daughter’s birthday was January 23 and we ate her selection of food (Qdoba and Blueberry Pie!!)
We had to eat late due to her basketball schedule. Additionally, I had plans the following day to meet my Mom and Grandparents to hangout!! (*side note* being able to visit my mom without having kids to also take care of has been a real treat and perk of kids being in school). We met at a local Mexican Restaurant that just opened where my Mom lives. She lives in a small town, so a new restaurant is a big deal!
Mexican food is my absolute favorite. And my kids birthdays are too! So instead of rescheduling my visit with my mom, or choosing to fast through one event or the other, I used this as an opportunity to let fasting be flexible!
Being flexible in this scenario meant only fasting 15 hours and some minutes between the birthday meal and my Mexican lunch,
Perfection Not Required!!
Above is a horrible screen grab from a video – sorry! It’s the best I’ve got, but it shows a delicious meal! Eating that I was enjoying company, each delicious bite AND loving the company I was in. No regret. No focusing on the lack of a perfect schedule.
When you can learn to embrace your schedule and goals as guides, not a strict rule you MUST LIVE BY… you’ll be able to comfortably adapt to Intermittent Fasting as a lifestyle…. not a set of rules.
Fasting Math
Let’s breakdown the times a bit, shall we? First of all, when I divide the entire amount I’ve fasted (139.08333 hours) by the number of days in the week (7) I get an average of 19 hours & 52 minutes. SO, even with a shorter fast, I was able to average out above my goal! This is important, to remember that the off days will be carried and evened out by what you do on a regular basis! The lifestyle of fasting is much more important than a day here and there that isn’t “perfect”.
My average was helped because I had a single LONG fast of nearly 27 hours! This wasn’t planned, but I met my husband for lunch one day, then fasted until dinner the next. Because of the change in which meal I ate, I had a longer fast.
That night we had Hungry Howie’s and boy was it good! My husband was wearing a CGM and we’ve been enjoyin testing the same foods and seeing how results vary. We ate the SAME pizza, salad, drink – everything! The results will be shared eventually. I’ll try to remember to link the results here. *fingers crossed*
Another Week, Another Happy Faster
It was another week in the books, inching closer to 3 years of being an intermittent faster. I truly do love the lifestyle. I bend my hours to fit my life and my appetite. And for me, that’s the BEST!! Hope you enjoyed your week of eating, too!
