One of the hardest parts about sharing my personal intermittent fasting story with the world is that someone would misinterpret my intentions.
I am NOT educated nor trained in anything nutrition, health sciences or related. As a matter of fact, in both my M.B.A. and B.A. college studies I took one science class and that was geology. No help to the understanding of Intermittent Fasting.
Value in Experience as an Intermittent Faster
So yes, please rule me out as a nutritional expert. And I get so nervous if someone asks me a “Can I…”, “Should I…”, “Am I able to…” question. Because in answering, I feel like maybe they misunderstand me. I don’t want anyone to think I am an expert in this field. I have SO much to learn & that’s the journey I am sharing.
I don’t say this to disqualify myself. I want my readers (BLOG), viewers (YouTube) and friends (in real life & internet) to understand I am learning, too! However, as a student of intermittent fasting I am still able to experience success!
You don’t need to know ‘the perfect plan’ to succeed! So I share my exploration and trials; I want you to try new things, too!
If not an expert, I am….who?
So I want to be clear early on in my blog/website. I am the following:
-someone who has yo-yo dieted many times
-someone who loves to eat foods of many varieties
-someone who often felt shamed after eating/indulging
-someone who started intermittent fasting as a personal journey
-someone who instantly loved intermittent fasting & became very passionate
-someone who has taken much time to research, read and enjoy the works of others who teach on I.F.
-someone who constantly tries different windows & approaches to fasting to see what works best for me
-someone that still eats “normal” foods or “what I want” on a daily basis
-someone who has lost roughly 40lbs
-someone who has fasted consistently over 18 months every single day
-someone who generally eats only One Meal a Day (OMAD)
-someone that loves to encourage others
-someone that likes to share success/loves to see others succeed too
-someone that believes sharing my journey, success and struggles will be a friend to others on the similar journey
Why differentiate?
I feel better being clear and open that my knowledge of course has limitations. I am experienced, but not an expert! My understanding of the science is indeed growing as I continue taking in information. But I want others to feel empowered by my success to take their journey in their own hands; try different protocols, allow yourself flexibility, talk with your healthcare provider with medical concerns, read all the books.
Just because I share something, doesn’t mean that every single one of my protocols are perfect for you! Explore, learn and try new things. Then we can fast on together! Thank you so much for reading.
