Not all items deserve a space in your eating window. When you have an eating window, only so much can fit into it. That means that some food items get cut… I have a long list of things I used to eat that I no longer choose. For instance, the heart shaped box of chocolates… no thanks!
Candy Debate!
Usually I stray from controversy, but my absolute favorite candy has some pretty heated haters.
Conversation hearts – you either love them or hate them. I for one LOVE them. In my previous diet world, I would avoid buying them… because I shouldn’t. Maybe that’s still what some people think I should do… but I don’t care. I absolutely LOVE them. I especially love the chalky texture. It’s often the reason people dislike them, but it’s my favorite part.
This is my 3rd Valentine’s season while Intermittent Fasting. I will buy a bag (& Matt, if you’re reading this you should buy me one, too) this season and thoroughly enjoy it.
It might sound silly, but I remember the guilt of having a couple bags stashed in my desk years ago when there was a Facebook rumor Brach’s wasn’t making them anymore. (Thankfully, after ownership change the hearts are back in production) Each time I grabbed a handful, instead of just enjoying the taste, I felt bad like I shouldn’t have them.
If you’re like me, you’ll probably understand… food tastes better without a guilty approach. No one told me I shouldn’t, but it was hard to fit them into any diet I may have been on.
Now here we are in 2023… I’ve passed on buying them multiple times! Why? Because I know I will enjoy them at some point this season and that there is no rush. Plus, it’s kind fun that it’s seasonal; I will wait closer to Valentine’s day, buy the big ol’ bag and hide them. (Though this hiding will be to avoid sharing, not from guilt or shame!)
Now I need to know; Conversation Hearts – what side are you on?!

Yes, they hold a special place in my heart for my husband and I. When he was my boyfreind many years ago. I showed up at his apartment which was down the hall with them glued to my body.

YAY! I TOO LOVE the little conversation hearts Jackie! Not only are they delicious, but they have such fun colors and adorable little sentiments and I will buy some for myself because they are a treat I can enjoy seasonally and in my eating windows without shame or guilt! I too will hide them so I won’t have to share – HA, HA! That was so funny when you said that because I was thinking the very same thing!
