Easter is a time of joy and renewal, and there’s nothing quite like the joy of hosting family for this special holiday. This is the one holiday we annually choose to stay home, invite all our family over and host!
Fun in Planning
One thing I love about hosting is we get to set the menu. Sure everyone brings a dish to pass and that certainly helps. But they’re bringing something to accompany what we set as the main course. While it isn’t set-in stone, we generally go for a pulled-meat of some variety with sandwich toppings. This way everyone can make what they want – and for me that means ALL THE TOPPINGS!!
No Easter celebration would be complete without dessert, and there are plenty of options to choose from. A classic carrot cake with cream cheese frosting is always a hit, as is a lemon meringue pie or a fruit tart filled with fresh berries. For me, I love to make giant delectable cookies. Last year I made these carrot cake cookies, which was a fun twist on the classic Easter dessert. I loved them so much, I will likely make them again this year.
With the planning and preparation put into hosting a delicious feast, it would be a bummer to not enjoy it, right? I know for a fact that I will approach Easter this year like I do most other holidays; I will have a down day the day before and and up day on Easter. This means a longer day or intentionally eating more (and yes, that will include the carrot cookies!!)
Even without a down day/up day approach, you could easily enjoy the Easter Feast in an OMAD window! Here is what my Easter plate looked like last year.
I enjoyed the food, my family and getting to have both at the same time!!
Ultimately, the joy of hosting family for Easter is about coming together and celebrating the joys of spring and the fast the Jesus rose from the Grave!!
With delicious food, fun decorations, and plenty of love and laughter, your Easter celebration is sure to be a success. So gather your loved ones around the table and enjoy the bounty of the season. Happy Easter!
