Today through Sunday I’m serving as a chaperone on a school field trip—which means I’m along for the ride when it comes to the schedule. I don’t decide when or where we eat. I just go with the flow. And thanks to fasting, that’s totally okay.
One of the things I love most about intermittent fasting—especially OMAD (One Meal a Day)—is how simple it makes days like this. I’ll spend most of my day fasted, which means there’s no stress about grabbing snacks, coordinating meals, or figuring out how to make something work when I’m not in charge of the timing.
If our group eats at a time that doesn’t work for me? No big deal.
If the food options aren’t my favorite? That’s fine too.
If there’s something fun, unique to DC, and worth trying? That’s my choice. Fasting lets me stay flexible, grounded, and focused—without letting food control the day.
Yes, I love trying new foods when I travel. I absolutely enjoy the experience of local eats! But this trip isn’t about food—it’s about helping out, staying present, and making memories. I’m not worried at all because fasting makes it so easy to roll with the day.
And don’t worry—if anything delicious or fun does pop up, you know I’ll be making an OMAD short about it later!
Fasting gives me the freedom to be flexible, joyful, and present—on field trips and every day.
