It’s another week of summer gone and reviewing my hours, I was surprised to see so many long fasts. Not because I thought it was wrong, but it wasn’t intentional! The main contributor appears to be I opened my eating window quite late almost every day.
With many long fasts, I didn’t have much variety in my windows. The earliest I opened my eating window was 2:57 PM. That’s pretty late compared to my earliest in weeks past. Even though my fasts were long, my eating windows were AMAZING – making the “sacrifice” worth it!!
The meals …. 🤤
The funny thing is, my 24 hour exact fast wasn’t even intentional. I went out to dinner with two girlfriends, which NEVER happens, and the food was delivered to the table exactly at 24 hours fasting! It was perfect – we had two appetizers to enjoy as I opened my eating window. And guess what my favorite part of the appetizers were – pickled orange beets!! They were so good! I didn’t know beets could be anything but bright red/purple. I also enjoyed an adult beverage, cheese, bread and spread galore – and that was before dinner!! Dinner was birria tacos… one word – delicious!
As I’m writing this, I realize another contribution to longer fasts is I went out to eat three times last week. While I really do enjoy going out to eat, that isn’t super common! If I know I am going out to dinner, I generally do wait until at the restaurant to break my fast – as a result, my fasts go until dinner time.
In restuarant summary …. we went to a pizza place and ice cream to redeem summer reading program prizes my kids earned. Then I had my girls night I already mentioned. Finally, my husband and I had a date night at my favorite Mexican restaurant followed by a movie! SO much good food, such good company and I was able to enjoy it thanks to fasting! By fasting, I enjoy whatever pops off the menu when I am at the restaurant. No looking off the low-cal menu or “trying to be good” while ignoring the food that actually appeals to me. I want greek pizza (below) I order greek pizza!
